Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the UN
This week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in the UN for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly and the Summit of the Future as global uncertainty is on the rise.
Committed to a better future for Canadians and the world, he is working with other leaders to push progress forward on their shared priorities.

Speaking to the General Assembly on Sunday, he addressed the key issues the world is facing right now and said,
We can recognise that, collectively, we have a responsibility to set our differences aside, to confront the serious global challenges and to deliver on a pact for the future.
He also talked about his policies, The national child care program, the school meal program, national dental care, housing plan, and climate action. He also reaffirmed that Canada is the first industrialised country to cap oil and gas emissions.
The summit’s goal is to reform the UN, strengthen multilateralism, and work together to bring solutions to the challenges at a time of global turmoil, inflation, Ukrainian war, and the conflict in Gaza.
Canada is one of the founding members of the UN and helped draft the UN charter.
During the summit, Prime Minister Trudeau urged leaders to keep working together for the betterment of the people in the world.
As the co-chair of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Advocates Group, Prime Minister Trudeau has reiterated Canada’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda, a 15-year global framework adopted in 2015, envisioning a world free from poverty and hunger with equal access to education and universal health coverage, along with other ambitious goals.
He also co-hosted a discussion with Haiti’s acting prime minister, Garry Conille, and worked together to solve the ongoing humanitarian, security, and political crises in Haiti. He has also committed to deliver immediate food, medicine, and humanitarian aid for the Haitian people.
Moreover, he met Nobel-laureate Malala Yousafzai, who advocated for the rights of girls and women in Afghanistan, and spoke about the oppression of the Taliban regime against women.
Prime Minister Trudeau is also hosting a high-level meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to speak and stimulate action on climate change, carbon pricing, and industrial decarbonisation.
The Prime Minister will be attending the UN assembly in New York until Wednesday morning.
