Gender Equality Week 2024
This week, in Canada we celebrate Gender Equality.
Gender Equality Week provides a chance to acknowledge the progress Canada has achieved in promoting gender equality, while also acknowledging the work that still needs to be done.
Thank God we have a feminist and progressive Prime Minister, who understands, is kind, and genuine, and who truly cares about Canadians with all his heart.
After the worst government of Harper, when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau assumed office, he had a vision to move Canada forward, and not backward.
Since then, he has worked on policies designed to transform Canada for women, seniors, the LGBTQ community, and our children and grandchildren.
Prime Minister Trudeau launched a feminist policy and had the first gender-balanced cabinet in Canadian history.
This year’s theme, “Unlocking Potential: Economic Power through Gender Equality,” is about boosting the economy and fostering fairness for every Canadian.
Gender equality is at the heart of Prime Minister Trudeau’s initiatives. The federal government is investing in $10-a-day child care in Canada, providing care and early learning for children while ensuring women's participation in the workforce.
The government is also providing free access to contraception medications, including birth control pills, IUDs, and implants.
Prime Minister Trudeau is also implementing the Federal 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan to address the inequalities faced by 2SLGBTQI+ Canadians.
The Action Plan builds on the efforts made by the Government of Canada since 2015 to tackle disparities faced by 2SLGBTQI+ communities and to foster a safer, more inclusive nation.
Not only this, the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence, shows the government’s commitment to stop the gender-based violence and hate in all its forms.
Canada continues to be a strong advocate for gender equality globally as well. This includes investments to eliminate gender-based violence through the International Feminist Policy.
The far-right will never invest in gender equality, reproductive rights, LGBTQI+ rights, or women’s rights because Poilievre and his Cons do not believe in this progress and want to take us backward.

These are important achievements worth celebrating, and while we celebrate these this week, we should also be thankful to our amazing Prime Minister for standing up for Canadians in every situation and navigating us through challenging times.
